THE ULTIMATE FACEBOOK AND RAY-BAN COLLAB
Imagine being able to take photos and videos with your sunglasses. What might seem like a gadget from the new Matrix movie is actually a reality thanks to an awesome collaboration between Facebook and Ray-Ban.
Smart glasses have been on Facebook’s to-do list for quite some time and the social media giant has recently launched their product in partnership with Ray-Ban.
Not only are you able to take photos and videos while wearing the glasses, but you’ll also be able to make calls and listen to music.
News24 reports that the social network on Thursday showed off the glasses, called Ray-Ban Stories – a direct rival to Snapchat’s Spectacles. The $299 (around R4,200) Facebook glasses use Essilor Luxottica SA-owned Ray-Ban’s classic Wayfarer frame style.
Facebook has said that the glasses will collect data that it apparently needs, like battery life and WiFi information, as well as a user’s login credential for a required Facebook account.
While they might look like classic Ray-Bans to the untrained eye, the glasses are actually high-tech machines with a memory capacity and nifty gadgets.
Now that Snapchat and Facebook have launched their offerings to the market, it’s rumoured that Apple will soon be launching its own version.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see…
