WAS BELLA HADID THE INSPIRATION FOR 'PLASTIC SURGERY' FACE IN THE WEEKND'S MUSIC VIDEO?
This week, US singer, The Weeknd, shocked his fanbase when he unveiled a dramatic new face, which plays a part in his latest music video for his song Save Your Tears.
The Weeknd's fans have speculated whether he was inspired by his ex-girlfriend, Bella Hadid, with his freaky 'plastic surgery' face.
The Weeknd and supermodel, Bella Hadid, first started their love story back in 2015. He first asked her to pose for his album artwork and then treated her to a Yorkie named Hendrix. This romantic gestures paid off as he and Bella made their red carpet debut at the 2016 Grammys, but they soon split from each other. After a while, he was seen in public with his new girlfriend, Selena Gomez, and after a 10-month romance, the pair called it a day.
In 2018, The Weeknd then reconciled with Bella. However, they split for a second time months later.
In his video, he sports a bizarre appearance with plumped up lips, an enhanced jawline and cheekbones, as well as an impossibly smooth complexion, which was crafted out of elaborate prosthetics.
After his appearance, fans have savagely theorised that the new song is about his famous ex-girlfriend, Hadid. Fans have pointed out the similarities between Hadid and The Weeknd's plastic surgery face.
Bella has faced several critics, stating that she has had a nose job and undergone other physical enhancements since she broke on to the scene in 2013.
The video received several comments where one fan commented on Twitter; "With the nose job and cheekbones, is the Weeknd mocking Bella Hadid." Another added; "I think The Weeknd is shading Bella Hadid, look at the nose and the lips and the pout lol, plastic!"
The Weeknd's newly released four-minute-long video sees the star entertaining a crowd sporting Venetian masks. Then, the spotlight turns on him as he is seen with pinned-back eyes and swollen features in all their disturbing detail.
