TICKETPRO DOME IN NORTHGATE SOLD

What has been the home to many expos and concerts, will now become a car supermarket. That's if you can believe the rumours doing the rounds.

This comes after it was announced yesterday that the Ticketpro Dome in Northgate has been sold. RX Venue Management, the management team in control of the managing aspects, has confirmed this.

The sale has been described as a devastating blow for the exhibitions, events, and entertainment industry. Since the ban on public events due to the pandemic, none of these events have been allowed to take place. This has left many venues, artists and organisers in despair.

Carol Weaving, the RX Africa MD said that the ban on public gatherings meant that the Ticketpro Dome could not host events since March 2020.

While WeBuyCars is yet to confirm that they have bought the company from the current owners, the Sasol Pension Fund, it is believed that they will turn the venue into one of the well-known car supermarkets.

The Ticketpro Dome has hosted famous artists and bands like Celine Dion, Katy Perry, One Republic, Lauren Hill and Michael Bublé since it opened its doors on 8 April 1998. News24 reports that the first event was a live concert by Diana Ross, attended by over 15 000 people, with a special guest appearance by the late former President Nelson Mandela.
