TOKYO MAN GOES ON RAMPAGE AND STABS 'HAPPY LOOKING' WOMEN
A 36-year-old man has been arrested in Tokyo on Friday night after going on a stabbing rampage on a moving train. The train had about 400 passengers onboard and the track it was on is one of Tokyo’s busiest routes.
Yusuke Tsushima said that he takes responsibility for his actions and admitted that he wanted to kill happy-looking couples and women. This comes after a recorded statement obtained by Kyodo News revealed that he was unlucky in love, mocked at social gatherings, and suffered repeated rejection on dating sites.
Kyodo News reports that Tsushima said he chose to carry out the attack on a train because there would be no space to flee.
He seriously injured a student by stabbing her repeatedly. The 20-year-old female was stabbed multiple times in her back and chest. While no fatalities were reported, nine other people were also injured. This includes five women and four men.
Part of Tsushima’s plan was to set the train cabin alight. He poured cooking oil onto the floor, but never managed to set it alight.
The train driver was alerted of the attack and stopped the train immediately. Tsushima was arrested and is still in custody.
