TRUCKERS PROTEST IN CANADA

Canadian truck drivers drove cross country in a convoy to protest against the country’s suggested vaccine mandate aimed at truckers crossing the border.

The convoy has been named the Freedom Convoy and it got the attention of the entire country. The aim of the movement is to show Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that truckers are against his mandate to get all truckers vaccinated if they want to cross the United States/Canada border.

Upset with the new measure that would require unvaccinated Canadian truckers crossing the two nations’ boundary to quarantine once they’ve returned home, a loose coalition of truckers and conservative groups began to organise the cross-country drive, reports the BBC.

The convoy started in western Canada and as it moved, more and more truckers joined. On Saturday, around 2 700 truckers joined the peaceful protest outside Parliament Hill in the capital city Ottaway.

Even the cold weather and a wind chill temperature of -21 degrees Celsius couldn’t stop the protesters. While they were hoping to speak to the Prime Minister himself, they had to settle for a representative as Trudeau and his family reportedly fled the city a few days earlier.
