TWITTER SUSPENDS DONALD TRUMP'S ACCOUNT FOREVER
Everything that outgoing US President, Donald Trump, has ever tweeted has been deleted as Twitter suspends his account forever.
In a blog post written on 8 January 2021, Twitter stated that; "After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them – specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter – we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence."
This comes on the heels of the violence in the week that saw many Trump supporters rioted in Washington. Many of them stormed Capitol Hill, breaching security, and entering offices and reaching the senate floor.
Twitter said that it is concerned that Trump's posts on Friday were being interpreted by loyalists on the far-right that their actions were approved. Therefore, they say the comments were "likely to inspire others to replicate the violent acts that took place on 6 January, 2021".
They also said that "Plans for future armed protests have already begun proliferating on and off-Twitter, including a proposed secondary attack on the US Capitol and state capitol buildings on 17 January, 2021."
