US MAN WINS LOTTERY TWICE WITHIN 11 DAYS
A man from South Carolina in the United States must be married to lady luck herself as he won the local lottery twice.
The man, who chose not to be identified, won a $40,000 prize on 16 July. Revelling in that winning feeling, he didn’t stop there. A mere 11 days later he bought another ticket and this time around he managed to win the $3 million prize on 27 July.
The winner, who has a habit of buying a ticket whenever he stops at his local garage to fill up, told CNN that he couldn’t believe his luck.
“I couldn’t’ believe it,” he said. “My family was shocked when I broke the news.”
According to the South Carolina Education Lottery, the odds of winning $40,000 playing Mega Millions are 1 in 931,001. The odds of winning $3 million are about 1 in 13 million.
CNN reports that in both cases, he missed the jackpot by just one number.
It’s not clear what the newly named millionaire will do with his winnings, but we think he should play again as third time lucky might just mean he wins the jackpot.
