VOLVO LAUNCHES SNEAKER

Volvo Canada recently showed the world the product of their collaboration with Casca footwear. The Canadian arm of the Swedish car manufacturer launched a limited-edition sneaker priced at just over R2000.

The all-electric XC40 Recharge SUV was the inspiration behind the sneaker as it also features the brand’s vision of being more carbon-neutral.

As much of 10% of each sole is made from a recycled car tyre; seven recycled plastic bottles are used to make the yarn for the knit upper, while other bits like the Swedish flag on one shoe tag and yellow Casca name honours the partnership between the brands, reports News24.

Volvo recently announced that it aims to reduce the lifecycle emissions of their vehicles by 40% per vehicle, by 2025. They also plan to manufacture exclusively fully electric vehicles by 2030.

Earlier this week the car manufacturer also announced that from now on all their electric vehicles will be completely leather-free as it will opt to make use of high-quality leather alternatives instead.
