YOUTUBE’S TOP TRENDING VIDEOS FROM 2020
Since this wasn’t an ordinary year and we had more time to watch videos on YouTube, the list of the top trending videos from 2020 has some surprising numbers behind them, not to mention their emotional topics.
YouTube recently announced its top trending videos from 2020 as watched by American audiences.
The New York Times reports that the videos have been watched more than 356 million times – that’s about 48 million hours in total.
Dave Chapelle’s video at 8:46 was part sermon, part stand-up, and focused on racial injustice and police brutality – two topics that shaped an already emotional year. The video was watched 29 million times on the channel, Netflix Is A Joke.
NikkieTutorials is a channel owned by a Dutch makeup artist with the name Nikkie. Her video, in which she came out as transgender, was viewed 36 million times.
Before 2020, we didn’t use or even knew about words like lockdown, and going into quarantine was a foreign concept. Yet, it’s a reality and something 2020 will forever be remembered. It’s no surprise then that one of the most-watched videos of the year is Dude Perfect’s quarantine stereotypes.
It has been watched 41 million times, and showcases all the hilarious ways we’ve adapted to the pandemic. From becoming wannabe influencers and personal trainers to trying to look professional while working from home with kids and animals in the background.
Well, 2020, you were strange, emotional, sad, and somewhat disappointing, but at least we got great content out of you!
