CSA ANNOUNCES HONG KONG SIXES SQUAD

The team to represent South Africa at this year’s Hong Kong Sixes tournament has been announced. This year’s tournament will take place from 7 to 9 November at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Hong Kong.

The squad, consisting of seven players, will be captained by Jordan Morris. Jorich van Schalkwyk, who plays for South Africa Under-19 and Titans, has also been selected. Van Schalkwyk caught the attention of the selectors when he became the first batter to score a double century while playing for the Under-19 team in July.

Blake Simpson from the Dolphins, as well as Abdullah Bayomi from Western Province, have both been selected as all-rounders.

Batsmen Kashief Joseph from Western Province and Ethan Cunningham from Boland have also been added.

The seventh player to be chosen for the squad is bowler Mbulelo Dube, who will be in charge of the bowling attack.

South Africa, who have won the Hong Kong Sixes tournament five times before, are in Group A with Afghanistan and Nepal.

The squad’s first match will be on 7 November against Afghanistan, followed by Nepal on 8 November.

In total, 12 teams will participate in this year’s tournament.
