GENE HACKMAN DIED 7 DAYS AFTER HIS WIFE
Medical investigators have confirmed that actor Gene Hackman died of natural causes seven days after his wife Betsy.
Betsy likely died on 11 February after contracting the very rare hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS). Her cause of death was also listed as natural. The news was confirmed by a New Mexico medical investigator.
It’s believed Betsy contracted the virus due to exposure to infected rodents.
According to the authorities, it’s believed that Hackman died on 18 February from coronary artery disease with advanced Alzheimer’s disease being a contributing factor.
Doctor Heath Jarrell of the New Mexico Medical Investigator’s Office told a news conference on Friday, given Gene’s advanced stages of Alzheimer’s disease, it’s “quite possible that he wasn’t aware that she (Betsy) was deceased”.
The Oscar-winning actor and his wife were married for more than 30 years. Their bodies were found in their home.
The last time anyone saw Betsy outside of their house was on 11 February when she was seen inside a grocery store, a pharmacy, and a pet store. She returned home later that evening.
