JAMES EARL JONES DIES
One of the most distinguishable voices of our generation will never speak again.
James Earl Jones has died at the age of 93. The American actor was known for his successful acting career, but it was his deep soothing barotone voice that made him well-known across the world.
He passed away in New York. No cause of death was provided.
Jones was known as the voice of Star Wars Darth Vader as well as Mufasa, Simba’s dad in The Lion King.
Film wasn’t the only medium where he excelled, the actor also has two Tony Awards under his belt for his stage work.
Many of his fellow actors took to social media to share their condolences.
Mark Hamill, who played the role of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader’s son in Star Wars, simply said: “RIP dad”.
Octavia Spencer wrote “Legendary doesn’t even begin to describe his iconic roles and impact on cinema forever” while Kevin Costner said: “That booming voice. That quiet strength. The kindness that he radiated. So much can be said about his legacy, so I’ll just say how thankful I am that part of it includes Field of Dreams”.
