MARTHA STEWART BECOMES OLDEST SPORTS ILLUSTRATED COVER STAR

Lifestyle mogul Martha Stewart has just become the world’s oldest Sports Illustrated cover star.

For this year’s swimsuit edition, she shares the cover with Megan Fox, Kim Petras and Brooks Nader.

The 81-year-old told People magazine that she didn’t even think twice when she was asked.

“It should have been 30 years ago. That would have been great. It was not a goal I set for myself, but once asked, I thought to myself, let’s do it!”

Stewart’s photoshoot took place in the Dominican Republic. For the shoot, she wore a variety of swimwear looks. One of the shots shows her splashing around in the water while polo ponies parade around her.

To prepare for the shoot, Stewart says she did “Pilates three, maybe four times a week and did not have a drink – no alcohol whatsoever for two months”.

After preparing for the shoot by getting a spray tan a few days before the shoot, she said she even managed to get a tan while shooting.

“It’s nice when you’re down in that azure water. I got a light tan, and it was very pretty, very natural.”

The Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition hits newsstands in the United States on 18 May. It’s not certain whether it will be available in South Africa.
