NIGERIAN CHEF ATTEMPTS WORLD RECORD BY COOKING FOR 100 HOURS STRAIGHT

Hilda Effiong Bassey likes cooking. A lot. So much so that she started on Thursday and continued straight until Monday. She cooked for 100 hours straight and even managed to create more than 55 recipes and more than 100 meals.

Known as Hilda Baci on social media, the Nigerian showcased the best of her home country’s cuisine. She told CNN that she wants to put Nigerian food on the map.

“Nigerian cuisine is the best out there. The more recipes are propagated, the more people will be willing to try it. Nigerian food is such comfort food.”

The marathon kitchen session was filmed and her attempt caught the attention of several passers-by.

The previous record was set by Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who cooked for 87 hours and 45 minutes straight in 2019.

Lata sent Hilda a message of support during her attempt.

It’s still unclear whether Hilda was successful in her attempt as the Guinness world record committee still has to confirm whether all the criteria have been met. Only once they’ve confirmed it, will Hilda become the chef with the world record for the longest cooking marathon.
