PORTUGAL WINS FIRST EVER WORLD CUP GAME

It was a first for a country not really known for their rugby, when Portugal beat Fiji in their final pool games of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

Although Fiji lost 24-23, they still managed to progress to the quarter-finals at the expense of Australia. This is the first time ever that the Wallabies won’t progress to the quarter-finals of a World Cup.

The first half ended 3-3, but the second half proved to be much more exciting. Portugal eventually scored their first try in the 45th minute minutes before Samuel Marques kicked the conversion.

The Os Lobos, as the Portuguese team is affectionately known, managed to beat Fiji after a late converted try at Stadium de Toulouse in Toulouse.

During the game, Levani Botia was given a yellow card for making head contact.

Fiji will now face England, while South Africa will play against France, New Zealand against Ireland, and Argentina will face Wales.
