SA BEAT HOST INDIA IN WORLD CUP MATCH
South Africa stunned the cricket world with an astonishing win over host India last night.
Thanks to Nadine de Klerk’s 84 not out off 54 balls, the Proteas notched another win at the Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Captain Laura Wolvaardt managed to lay a solid foundation with 70 off 111 balls before De Klerk took to the crease and managed to hit five sixes and eight fours.
India was all out in 49.5 overs with bowler Chloe Tyron getting 3-32 in 10 overs. At one stage, the host country was down 102-6.
Not only did De Klerk perform with the bat, but she also managed to take two wickets for 52 runs.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom for India as Richa Ghosch managed to hit a massive 94 runs off 77 balls.
At the post-match interview, De Klerk, who was awarded player of the match, said she gave it her all.
"I am lost for words at the moment."
"I just wanted to finish the game, so I tried to dig deep and give ourselves the best chance. I do love being under pressure, and hopefully this gives us a lot of confidence.”
