SNOW EXPECTED IN GAUTENG

It might not be the winter wonderland everyone hopes for, but there may be some snowfall in Gauteng tomorrow.

Due to cold clouds and a drop in freezing levels across the eastern parts of the country, residents could expect the possibility of sleet over southern Gauteng. Snow has been predicted for the Drakensberg mountains.

If the snow doesn’t fall, residents can at least expect some rain early on Friday morning. While it’s not a usual occurrence during Gauteng’s winter months, rain is often reported to fall in this area.

Gauteng Weather said on X: The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts’ model currently indicates a slim chance of light snow or a rain-snow mix in Gauteng early Friday morning.

“As we’ve seen before, snow forecasts in Gauteng can change rapidly, so while it’s possible, it remains unlikely at this stage. Light rain could reach as far north as Gauteng by Friday, with temperatures staying chilly throughout the week.”

So far, Gauteng has been hit with several cold fronts already.
