TWO MAJOR ATTACKS IN SYDNEY

A bishop was attacked during a service on Sunday following a spree of stabbings at a shopping centre. Both incidents took place in the Australian city of Sydney.

During Sunday’s attack, an online video shows Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel repeatedly being stabbed during his service at the Christ the Good Shepherd church. The bishop was stabbed in the head and his upper body.

The service was livestreamed and members of the congregation could be heard screaming and rushing to stop the attack.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the attack which is now being dealt with as a terror attack.

After the attack, hundreds of people gathered outside the church building, preventing police from taking the boy into custody. Several hours and reinforcements later, police were eventually allowed to arrest the teenager.

The church stabbing incident follows an incident on Saturday where six people were killed after being stabbed at a shopping centre.

The attacker has been identified as 40-year-old Joel Cauchi. His victims who were killed were five women and one man. Several people were injured, including a nine-month-old baby.

Cauchi was shot and killed on the scene by a police officer. The officer managed to confront Cauchi on her own.
