VODACOM FIRES 631 STAFF

Various irregular activities and fraud was named as the reasons why cellular giant Vodacom dismissed 631 staff and contractors.

The company also arrested 15 suspects.

The shocking news was revealed in Vodacom’s annual results for the 2023/2024 financial year.

“From 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024, the Group’s corporate security divisions investigated over 8652 cases of alleged fraud or irregularities, of which 6872 related to external cases and 1780 to internal cases.”

Vodacom said the staff all faced disciplinary action for various reasons. The cases were reported through various channels, including online reports, business referrals, customers, service providers, external whistleblowing and the company’s own fraud management system.

The group has made it clear that they won’t tolerate fraud.

“Vodacom Group has zero tolerance for fraudulent activity on networks in each of the countries in which it operates and remains committed to taking appropriate action to ensure the protection of its customers.”

Replacing the dismissed employees would be up to the affected countries.
