WATER DISRUPTION PLANNED FOR JHB

Brace yourself, Johannesburg. Water disruptions of up to four days are being planned.

Rand Water has announced that parts of the city are expected to be without running water for up to four days.

Planned maintenance will start on Tuesday, 15 July, and continue until Friday, 18 July.

The maintenance will affect areas supplied by the Sandton and Midrand systems as well as the Alexander Park, Linksfield and Randjieslaagte reservoirs.

Nombusi Shabalala, a spokesperson for Johannesburg Water, said Johannesburg residents should prepare for low water pressure or no water at all.

"Johannesburg residents are reminded that Rand Water will be conducting maintenance at its Palmette system from the 15th to the 18th of July 2025. During this period, residents may experience low water pressure to no water."

Rand Water has been conducting maintenance throughout Gauteng, as Pretoria experienced a similar water shutdown phase in June. Most of the capital was without water for several days, with some areas only getting water back after 6 days.
