BAFANA THROUGH TO AFCON QUARTER FINALS

The boys are back! Bafana Bafana has qualified to reach the quarter-final round in the Africa Cup of Nations.

This comes after coach Hugo Broos’ team beat Morocco 2-0 on Tuesday.

The last time South Africa managed to get this far in the tournament was when they won it in 1996. Broos has been under attack as he tried to convince the country that the national soccer team could perform well even when facing the odds.

Morocco is currently the number-one ranked team in Africa.

Now that they’ve managed to beat Morocco, Bafana will face Cape Verde on Saturday as the final 16 compete for the title.

Although confident in their win, Broos admits that his team was lucky as Morocco missed a few scoring chances.

“I don’t think I have to tell you I am very happy,” Broos said after the match that took place at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro.

The two winning goals were scored by Evidence Makgopa and Teboho Mokoena.
