CAR CRASHES INTO BUCKINGHAM PALACE GATE
A driver crashed into the gates of Buckingham Palace during the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police officers rushed to the scene and could be heard yelling “Keep your hands on your head” as the man behind the steering wheel was asked to get out of the car.
Security footage shows the man getting out of the car and then kneeling on the ground with his hands behind his head.
The man was then arrested by Met police on suspicion of criminal damage and taken to a nearby hospital to have possible injuries taken care of.
The incident, which took place in central London, led to the gates to the Queen’s royal residence in Westminster being boarded up this morning.
Wooden panels and scaffolding can currently be seen as work has already begun on fixing the famous black gates with gold detail.
So far, no details about the man or the incident have been shared with the media. The Met did release a statement with a short description of what happened and added that “enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances”.
