GAUTENG IS UBER EATS’ BEST SUPPORTING PROVINCE
It’s official: Gauteng has the most Uber Eats orders, according to Uber Eats’ 2024 Craving Report.
Since its launch in 2016, Uber Eats has received some pretty interesting orders. The most expensive order was placed last year, when one user spent R20,000 on a single bottle of expensive cognac.
Another user managed to order Uber Eats on 364 days of the year. We wonder what he did on the one day he didn’t order.
Discounts are something we’re all keen on. Through the Uber One offer, one user managed to save more than R18,000 on 779 orders.
The most searched item on the Uber Eats app in South Africa? Chicken, of course. More specifically, “crispy chicken”.
Together, Pretoria and Johannesburg represented Gauteng as the two cities with the most late-night orders. In 2024, these two cities placed 1.2 million orders between 23:00 and 03:00.
Durban made the list as the most vegan-friendly city, but Joburg and Gauteng made the top of that list for the cities with the most vegan dishes ordered.
The customers weren’t the only noticeable members on the list.
Daily Investor reports that one courier clocked 4,500 service hours, made 7,959 trips, and travelled nearly 40,000 kilometres in 2024.
