X HIT BY CYBER ATTACK
Monday was indeed very blue for social media platform X. The company, owned by Elon Musk, was hit by a massive cyberattack.
In a post, Musk confirmed the news on Monday.
“There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X. We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved.”
The cyberattack caused the platform to be unavailable for several hours. At one point, more than 400,000 users reported issues accessing the platform.
Reports of outages started on Monday when users in Asia, Europe and North America said they couldn’t access the platform.
At first, it was thought that the outage problem was only isolated to smartphone users, but soon people using web browsers to access X also reported problems.
Musk, the South African-born billionaire who is now part of US President Donald Trump’s government, bought X in 2022. At the time it was still called Twitter, but Musk renamed it to show the new beginning.
Along with X, Musk also owns Tesla and SpaceX, two major tech-driven companies based in the United States.
