INSTAGRAM CELEBRATES ITS 10TH BIRTHDAY
Ten years ago, we didn’t "do it for the Gram". We lived in a world free from digital influencers, and nobody even knew the term "Insta Husband" would one day be something we casually throw around like it’s normal.
Fast forward 10 years and you can’t go to a restaurant without someone taking a photo of their meal. Nowadays, Ludwig is known as a filter, not a famous composer.
Whether you love it or hate it, Instagram has changed the world as we used to know it, forever. The most popular social media platform in the world recently celebrated its 10th birthday.
It was founded by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger back in 2010 and bought by Facebook only two years later, reports Wikipedia.
Since then it has seen enormous growth worldwide and has launched the career of thousands of people. From digital influencers, models, reality stars, chefs and fitness gurus – many of them had no career, never mind a following, before Instagram made an appearance in the world of social media.
While there are almost 27 million users on Insta (that’s what the cool kids call it) it is still blocked in both China and North Korea.
To celebrate its 10th birthday, the platform launched anti-bullying features. EN Gadget reports that the company says it’s expanding its in-app warnings that "nudge" users when they try to post a nasty comment. Instead of asking users to rethink their mean comments, the new warnings will note that Instagram may disable users’ accounts if they repeatedly break its rules.
