JERRY SPRINGER DIES AT 79

Legendary TV host Jerry Springer has passed away. He was 79.

According to his publicist, the former mayor of Cincinnati passed away peacefully at his home in Chicago.

Springer became a household name worldwide when he launched The Jerry Springer Show. The talk show was known for its love of sharing betrayal between loved ones, with often physical reactions like chairs being thrown or fighting.

The talk show ran for nearly 3 decades and was a few episodes shy of reaching the 5,000-episode mark.

Fellow talk show host Ricki Lake, shared her feelings on social media: “Just waking to the very sad news of the passing of my longtime talk show rival and friend Jerry Springer. A lovely man. May he rest in peace.”

British broadcaster Piers Morgan described Springer as “an intelligent warm, funny man”.

“Loved working with him on America’s Got Talent, loved hanging out with him (we lived in the same hotel for two years), loved arguing with him (he loved his politics), loved everything about him.”

The BBC reports that Springer’s family asked that in lieu of flowers, people should make a donation or an act of kindness to someone in need, or a worthy advocacy organisation, in tribute to the way Springer would sign off from his talk shows: “Take care of yourself, and each other.”
