KFC DELIVERY PRICE INCREASE UNVEILED
Thinking of getting KFC for dinner tonight? If you’re not in the mood to go and get it yourself, you’re going to have to prepare to pay extra. That’s because it’s been revealed that KFC is charging South Africans a whopping 16.7% of their purchase value plus an additional R5 as a delivery fee for orders that have been placed through the fast-food chain’s website. The items on the website have no price attached to them so consumers won’t realise the price difference until they have to set their location for delivery. That’s when the price difference kicks in because it’s cheaper if you collect your order yourself. This information was established due to an investigation done by MyBroadband where they did a cross-comparison of items and their prices in Johannesburg, Centurion and Cape Town. An example of a price comparison is the Double Crunch burger. When collected by you, the burger will cost you R59,90. When you require delivery, that same burger will cost you R71,90.
Although the price increase isn’t a new concept on third-party delivery services like Mr D or Uber Eats, the extra amount charged is usually allocated to the delivery app. In this case, a third-party app wasn’t involved.
MyBroadband contacted KFC for comments but received no response.
