LIVERPOOL’S SLIDE DEEPENS

Liverpool’s hopes of defending the Premier League title took another brutal hit as Nottingham Forest thrashed them 3–0 at Anfield. The loss was Liverpool’s sixth in seven league games, leaving the champions stranded in 11th place, a shocking eight points behind leaders Arsenal.

Forest struck first when Murillo powered home from a corner in the 33rd minute. Nicolo Savona doubled their lead early in the second half, and Morgan Gibbs-White wrapped it up with a cool finish after a scramble in the box.

Their victory marked the biggest win at Anfield in years and helped lift Forest out of the relegation zone under Sean Dyche’s gritty reign.

But the result isn’t the only problem. Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk didn’t mince his words, admitting the squad is “in a mess”.

He said the team has let down both manager Arne Slot and themselves, calling for everyone to “look in the mirror” and take accountability. Van Dijk warned that their meltdown, especially from set-pieces, is simply unacceptable.

After splashing nearly £450 million in the transfer window, Liverpool’s regression has sparked serious questions. The pressure now mounts.
