LOUIS VUITTON WELCOMES PHARRELL AS MENSWEAR CREATIVE DIRECTOR
French fashion house Louis Vuitton has welcomed music sensation Pharrell Williams as its new head of menswear.
The position has never been filled since its former head of menswear Virgil Abloh passed away from cancer in November 2021. Up until now, the fashion house used a collective of strongly hyped fashion designers and its latest menswear show at Paris fashion week was one of the most talked about shows of the week.
Pharrell is not new to the world of fashion. He has previously teamed up with Louis Vuitton in 2008 when Marc Jacobs was still the creative director and they collaborated on a jewellery and sunglasses line.
He has also previously collaborated with other fashion brands like Adidas, Moncler, Chanel and Diesel.
The hip-hop star is also the co-owner of jeans brand G-Star Raw and co-founded Billionaire Boys Club, the Japanese clothing maker.
Louis Vuitton’s chief executive Pietro Beccari shared his excitement over the announcement.
“I’m delighted to see Pharrell come back to the house as the new creative director for men, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton.
His creative vision beyond fashion will without a doubt lead Louis Vuitton towards a new, very exciting chapter.”
