MAUSOLEUM CRYPT NEXT TO CELEBS ON AUCTION
A special mausoleum crypt in Los Angeles could reach up to $400,000. What makes it so special? The lucky person’s last resting place will be close to Marilyn Monroe and Hugh Hefner, which explains the hefty price tag.
The burial spot is located at the Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park one row above and four spaces to the left of Monroe.
The auction will be facilitated by Julien’s Auctions and will include other items belonging to the two celebs as well. These items include Monroe’s first Playboy magazine cover from 1953 and an orange-coloured Elizabeth Arden lipstick worn by her in the 1960s.
Hefner’s items include his famous burgundy smoking jacket and silk pyjamas.
The auction house will start to accept bids for the burial lot at 450,000 but it’s expected to reach in the region of $200,000.
It’s no coincidence that Hefner and Monroe are next to each other at the mausoleum. In 1992, the former Playboy owner $75,000 to secure that specific spot. At the time, he said, “spending an eternity next to Marilyn is too sweet to pass up”.
In 2020, the crypt a few spots above Monroe and Hefner was on sale for $745,000.
