NEW RULES FOR RUGBY
With the game of rugby evolving at a rapid pace and becoming increasingly challenging and strategic, World Rugby has decided to review some of the longstanding rules of the game.
One of the biggest changes is the decision to introduce a golden point, rather than accepting a draw at the end of the match.
According to the new rule, the golden point will give matches that end up in a draw a clear winner. The golden point will be awarded to the first score in extra time.
World Rugby hopes that the golden point will encourage attacking rugby, which would lead to more action for the players and fans alike.
With the chance of fewer substitutions becoming a new rule, Rassie Erasmus’s bomb squad could soon be a thing of the past.
World Rugby aims to make the game of rugby fairer, safer, and more in line with the spirit of rugby.
Although legal, the caterpillar ruck has many players and fans up in arms. A caterpillar ruck means the players line up behind a ruck in a queue so that the scrum-half has more space and extra time to kick the ball.
Whether all these rules will become law and if so, when they’ll be applied is still unclear.
