SPRINGBOKS BACK FOR SHARKS LEINSTER MATCH

The Sharks squad facing Leinster on Saturday will have an extra boost with the return of some of their Springboks.

Ethan Hooker will be back in the squad on wing, and Bongi Mbonambi will start on the bench in Dublin. Both are fresh from the Springboks’ win over Argentina in London on Saturday.

John Plumtree’s side will no doubt look forward to welcoming back two of their star players, as they are yet to win a match in this year’s United Rugby Championship.

The Durban-based team lost against Glasgow Warriors in the first round and followed that up with a draw against the Dragons in the second round.

Leinster might be the defending champions, but the Dublin-based side is also yet to win a match after they lost to the Stormers in round one and the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld in the second round.

Sharks vice-captain Lukhanyo Am said the team could only benefit from the Springboks returning.

“It’s the beginning of the season, and we have so much potential to grow. They’re [the Springboks] quality players, they will fit in perfectly and having them in our squad will definitely help us.

Am said the Sharks are ready for Saturday’s match.

“It’s the last game on tour and we’re facing a quality side, the champs, but this is one game everyone is really excited about and looking forward to playing. We have a lot to prove playing Leinster at their home ground.”
