SEVEN-HOUR POWER OUTAGE PLANNED IN TSHWANE

Pretoria, brace yourself for a massive seven-hour-long power outage today.

Eskom announced that the planned maintenance of the distribution board will mean that some parts of the capital city will be without power.

The maintenance is scheduled from 09:00 to 16:00.

In a statement, Eskom said the maintenance is essential.

“The power outage will affect customers in Ga Rankuwa Ext 24, Kgalabatsane area and Micha View on Tuesday, 25 June from 09:00 to 16:00. The interruption of electricity is necessary to perform essential maintenance on our distribution power lines.”

“In the interest of safety, all electrical appliances must be treated as live.”

The state-owned power utility went on to apologise for the inconvenience and said that should circumstances beyond their control arise, the planned electricity maintenance won’t proceed.

Although loadshedding hasn’t been implemented for a few months now, Eskom has warned that it might be forced to implement it again as the pressure on the grid is heavy due to the colder temperatures.
