TENACIOUS D CANCELS TOUR AFTER BANDMATE’S TRUMP COMMENTS
While on their world tour, Tenacious D has cancelled the rest of their tour dates.
This comes after band member Kyle Gass celebrated his birthday on stage in Sydney, Australia. When Gass was asked if he wanted to make a wish for his 64th birthday, he replied:
“Don’t miss Trump next time.”
This comes after the failed assassination attempt on former US president Donald Trump over the weekend.
Following the concert and the comment, lead singer Jack Black took to Instagram to share his thoughts and announce the tour cancellation.
Black said he was “blindsided” by the comment.
“I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.”
Black continued saying he didn’t feel it was “appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour” and that the rest of the group’s “creative plans are on hold”.
Gass also took the time to share his thoughts on the matter on Instagram. He apologised for saying it was a “severe lack of judgment.”
“The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake.”
“I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgment.”
