FREE LUNCH OFFERED BY CITY OF COPENHAGEN

If you’re travelling through the city of Copenhagen and you’re too broke to buy lunch, the city might have your back.

If a free lunch isn’t exactly what you’re after, you could choose between a kayak tour, museum entrance or many other activities.

The Danish capital has decided to embrace tourists visiting their city by encouraging sustainable behaviour from visitors by “showing proof of green actions into currency”.

The initiative is called CopenPay and was launched last week. It will be ongoing until 11 August.

Among the 24 attractions, there are free bike rentals and ice creams. All the attractions are encouraged to “reward climate-friendly actions” like biking instead of driving and working in an urban garden.

If tourists are keen on the idea, they can visit the Visit Copenhagen website.

In Barcelona, residents of the city have taken it upon themselves to try and get rid of the thousands of tourists currently visiting the Spanish city.

Protestors have started to spray tourists with water guns and have told them to leave the city.

According to the initiative’s website, Copenhagen tap water is clean and tasty, and compared to bottled water, it leaves a significantly smaller mark on the environment.”
