JOHN CENA ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT FROM WRESTLING
The end of an era is around the corner. US wrestler turned actor John Cena will retire from competing in all World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) events.
The 47-year-old announced while at the WWE Money in the Bank event in Canada over the weekend.
“Tonight I officially announce my retirement from the WWE.”
The crowd showed their support by chanting “Thank you Cena” followed by the wrestler replying: “What an incredible gesture of kindness”.
Although he’ll still remain part of the WWE family, he won’t be competing anymore. His final in-ring competition will be in 2025 and will form part of his farewell tour.
Cena, who’s been hailed as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, started acting in movies 18 years ago. The first movie he starred in was The Marine and has since starred in blockbusters like The Suicide Squad and Fast & Furious 9.
The wrestler is also known for his big heart. Cena is the all-time most requested celebrity by kids with the charity Make-A-Wish. He holds the Guinness World Record for the most number of wishes granted to children who have critical illnesses.
