BROOS ANNOUNCES BAFANA SQUAD FOR ZAMBIA FRIENDLY
Hugo Broos has named his preliminary Bafana Bafana squad for next month’s friendly against Zambia, giving several newcomers a chance to impress ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The match, set for 14 November on home soil, will serve as a key warm-up as Broos experiments with his options. Among the fresh faces are Darren Johnson, Masindi Nemtajela, and Puso Dithejane, all players who’ve recently caught the coach’s eye with strong performances for their clubs.
Nemtajela’s rise has been particularly impressive. After struggling for minutes earlier in the season, he’s become a regular for the Pirates and earned his first senior call-up.
Orlando Pirates midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi also returns after being left out in recent selections, while Sekhukhune United’s Keletso Makgalwa will hope to make the final AFCON squad.
Broos’ list blends local stars and overseas-based regulars, with captain Ronwen Williams, Khuliso Mudau, and Lyle Foster all included.
The coach has made it clear that places for the continental tournament are still up for grabs, making this clash an important test for fringe players looking to break through.
South Africa’s preparations are officially underway, and competition for spots has never been tighter.
