2025 WORLD XV ANNOUNCED
Every year around this time, Ruck.co.za announces its world XV, rounding up the 15 best players of the year and combining them into one dream team.
This year, the team consists of a massive five Springboks. But the current world champions are managing to keep their momentum going; it’s not a massive surprise.
Let’s have a look at the first eight players, consisting of the world dream team.
Loose-head prop Ox Nche from South Africa is known as the Springboks’ scrum weapon. Often setting the tone for South Africa’s physical dominance, Nche has a rare combination of power, technical precision and low-body positioning.
Ireland’s Dan Sheehan has been chosen as the dream team hooker. The past year was a good one for Sheehan as he scored several tries, and he showed his brilliance in his position during the current Lions tour.
Wilco Louw from South Africa is the dream player as a tight-head prop. Known as Quadzilla, Louw’s impact in the scrum is undeniable.
Veteran enforcer Eben Etzebeth is known for his intimidation as well as leadership skills. It’s admirable when you realise he’s been performing at the same level for the past decade.
England’s Maro Itoje was captain during this year’s Lions tour in Australia, where he stood out for disrupting opposition ball.
Ruck.co.uk describes Tadhg Beirne from Ireland as a coach’s dream. The lock is known for consistently delivering work rate and intelligent support play.
World Rugby’s player of the year, Pieter-Steph du Toit, has been chosen as the flanker. The South African is known for his unmatched work ethic.
New Zealand’s Ardie Savea has been described as a one-man highlight reel as the eighth man. The All Black player is known for his leadership and athleticism.
