MOROCCO CROWNED U20 WORLD CHAMPIONS IN HISTORIC VICTORY
Morocco has achieved a milestone that will be remembered for generations. Their under-20 national football team has won the FIFA U20 World Cup for the very first time, bringing immense pride to the nation and the African continent.
Facing Argentina in the final on Monday morning in Chile, Morocco delivered a confident and composed performance. Yassir Zabiri stole the spotlight early, scoring twice in the first half to give Morocco a big lead they never gave up. The match ended 2 to 0, with Morocco celebrating a truly historic result.
This victory isn’t just a first for Morocco at the under-20 level. It’s the country’s first-ever World Cup title at any age group.
Morocco’s path to the trophy was filled with determination and resilience. In the semifinals, they faced France and held their ground through a tense match that ended one-all. The Atlas Cubs then held their nerve in a penalty shootout, winning 5-4 to book their place in the final.
Their opponents, Argentina, came into the final with a strong reputation. They had already claimed six under-20 titles and were seen as favourites. But Morocco played with purpose and discipline, refusing to be intimidated by history or pressure.
This makes Morocco only the second African country to win the U20 World Cup, following Ghana’s breakthrough in 2009.
