LAGOS NAMED AFRICA’S MOST FOUL-MOUTHED CITY

It’s official! Lagos has been named Africa’s most foul-mouthed city on X. This is according to word game helper WordTips.

Johannesburg came in a close second followed by Accra in third place, Nairobi in fourth place and Ibadan in fifth place. The city of Ibadan is also located in Nigeria.

According to the stats, Johannesburg has 19.8 posts containing swear words per 1,000 analysed.

According to WordTips, the top five countries that swear the most are the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. The country that is the least prone to swear is Kuwait.

The stats showed that countries with English as their first language are listed as those with the highest number of swear words.

News24 reports that for countries outside of those that are English-speaking, web users are likely to either lack understanding or doubt their understanding of how offensive a swear word is or when it is appropriate to use it.
