OPPENHEIMER REIGNS SUPREME AT OSCARS 2024
With 13 nominations in total, Oppenheimer walked away with winning several of the big awards of the evening at the 2024 Academy Awards.
The evening was hosted by comedian and late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
It was Kimmel’s second time in a row presenting the ceremony and his fourth time doing so.
The acclaimed movie, which follows the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American physicist credited with creating the atomic bomb, walked away as the winner in the best director, best actor, and best picture categories.
The other big contender for moviegoers during the last 12 months was Barbie. Both Oppenheimer and Barbie were released on the same weekend which led to the public coining the term Barbenheimer.
Unfortunately, the long-awaited movie based on Mattel’s famous blonde doll only managed to win the Oscar for best song.
Poor Things also managed to win several big categories including hair and makeup, production design, costume design, and best actress for Emma Stone.
After winning the Golden Globe, the BAFTA, and the Screen Actors Guild Award, Cillian Murphy managed to walk away with the Oscar as well for portraying the title role in Oppenheimer.
