THE WORLD’S BEST FOOD CITIES ANNOUNCED

Time Out has announced its annual world’s best cities for food right now list and we’re all for it.

How is this list put together? Time Out says they surveyed thousands of people around the world about food in their city. They asked locals to rate their city’s food scene across 18 different criteria, including quality, affordability and attributes from “family-friendly” to “experimental”.

But enough about the how and why, let’s get to the what.

The world’s best city for food is New Orleans. The United States city is known for its rich culinary history with influences from countries like Vietnam, Spain, France and even the African continent.

The city’s attitude around food and festivities has made it not only popular among locals and tourists, but also the world’s favourite culinary city.

In second place is the Thai city of Bangkok. The city is known for offering delicious food 24/7. From fine dining at lunchtime to street food at 02:00 in the morning, Bangkok has it all and it’s not only affordable, but good.

The third place went to Medellin. The Colombian city is known for its food scene with a massive focus on affordability. According to Time Out’s survey, 89% of locals say going to a restaurant, while 94% say it’s cheap to grab a good coffee.

Fourth and fifth place went to Cape Town and Madrid respectively.
