TIME’S 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE OF 2024 ANNOUNCED

Every year, Time Magazine releases a list of that year’s most influential people in the world. The list is compiled annually and is suggested by cultural and political icons.

These icons are asked to highlight the changemakers of the past year. Usually, there are people from different industries including entertainment, sports, science, and politics.

Every person on the list gets a feature written about them, usually by a peer or legend in their industry.

This year’s list features a piece written by comedian Amy Poehler about fellow actress Maya Rudolph. Nigerian artist Burna Boy wrote about rapper 21 Savage, while vice president of the United States wrote about former Russian opposition leader Yulia Navalnaya.

Features on sports stars include Patrick Mahomes and South Africa’s very own Siya Kolisi. South African comedian Trevor Noah wrote about the Springbok captain:

“Through his wisdom and humility, Siya has taught us what a powerful captain should be: Someone who serves and inspires those he leads. And for him to lead a team in a historically white sport, to be loved and adored by fans of all races, is an immense achievement.”

Kylie Minogue’s piece was written by Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin while actor Michael J. Fox’s piece was written by fellow actor Ryan Reynolds.

Other names that have made this year’s list include American songwriter Jack Antanoff, Dutch F1 champion Max Verstappen, and Ukraine’s presidential advisor Andriy Yermak.
