VALTTERI BOTTAS HITS CAPE TOWN
F1 driver Valtteri Bottas has landed in Cape Town and judging by his social posts, he’s loving the mother city.
After a difficult race at the Chinese Grand Prix, he jetted to South Africa alongside his Australian girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell. Bottas was forced to retire due to mechanical difficulties with his car at the Shanghai International Circuit.
The 35-year-old is in the country to participate in the Trek UCI Gravel World Championship. The Swartberg 100 takes place on Saturday. Cromwell is an Australian professional cyclist.
When Bottas arrived on Monday, he posted two beautiful sunset photos praising the city’s views.
Soon after, Cape Town mayor Georden Hill-Lewis took to X to welcome the F1 driver to the country.
“Welcome to South Africa, welcome to Cape Town! Hope you’re here about bringing F1 to Cape Town. Have a wonderful time.”
A day later, Bottas posted photos of himself hitting the dirt roads of the Swartberg Pass with the caption: “South African gravel.”
Bottas, who drives for the Kick Sauber team, is currently 20th out of 21 drivers on the leaderboard.
