FERRIS WHEEL IN GERMANY CATCHES FIRE

A Ferris wheel at a music festival in Germany caught fire on Saturday evening. More than 20 people were injured.

Four of them suffered from severe burn injuries due to the incident. Another person was treated for injuries when they fell.

The festival took place at the Highfield Festival near the city of Leipzig.

It’s believed two of the ride’s carriages caught fire just after 21:00. Lots of smoke could be seen billowing into the air.

The Highfield Festival released a statement saying 18 people including first responders, police officers and others on the ride came into contact with smoke and were taken to hospitals for medical treatment.

The area around the Ferris wheel has been cordoned off as an investigation is currently underway. The music festival carried on, despite the incident.

German rapper Ski Aggu was onstage and performing when the Ferris wheel caught fire. He was asked by the organisers to keep performing and not cancel his show.

The crowds were kept up to date as the incident took place.
