PADDLE COURTS, SAUNAS AND PLUNGE POOLS TO BE ADDED TO MALL OF AFRICA’S ROOF

Paddle is currently the fastest-growing sport in the world and customers at Mall Of Africa are about to become part of the statistics.

That’s because the mall, part of the Attacq Properties portfolio, has announced that it’s planning to add six paddle courts, an infra-red sauna and ice plunge pools on top of the mall’s roof.

The idea belongs to Balwin Padel, a newly formed division under the Balwin Properties’ umbrella.

Balwin Properties CEO, Steve Brookes, the decision was made to satisfy the public’s appetite for a relatively unchallenging sport.

“It is a very easy sport to start. You know, as long as you can swing your right arm and hti with it, the paddle bat is a fairly forgiving bat.”

There are currently 400 courts in South Africa but it’s believed this number will soon increase to about 2,500 courts.

According to News24 the development will be home to the Balwin Padel Club and will boast recovery facilities that include the latest cryo technology to blast players with liquid nitrogen to help them recover, as well as infra-red sauna and ice plunge pools.

The Balwin Padel Club is set to open in September.
