TIKTOK IS BACK
Only 12 hours after it shut down, TikTok is back.
The switch was so fast that several of its users based in the United States didn’t even notice that it went down and came back up again.
TikTok recently faced a law which led to its shutdown in the United States over the weekend. The app was also unavailable on the Google Play and Apple stores during this shutdown.
Around 12 hours after the shutdown, TikTok posted a notification saying: “Thanks for your patience and support. As a result of President Trump’s efforts, TikTok is back in the U.S.!”
Donald Trump, who was inaugurated in Washington DC this morning, promised to issue an executive order following his inauguration to delay enforcement of the divest-or-ban law.
In the United States alone, TikTok has more than 170 million users. While many of the users use the app to stay up to date with the latest news, entertainment and community info, others use it to create content and earn an income from the app.
CNN reports that Trump attributed his election victory in part to TikTok at a press conference at Mar-a-Lago in December.
“I have a warm spot in my heart for TikTok. And there are those that say that TikTok had something to do with it.”
