WOOLWORTHS ASKS FOR RESPECT FOR STAFF

South Africa’s premier grocer has had enough of the abuse and disrespect its staff has been facing.

Woolworths recently put up a sign in several of its stores informing its customers to be respectful towards its staff or face the consequences.

The sign said:

“Respect makes all the difference. Our Woolies team members work tirelessly to deliver the Woolies difference. We are grateful that our customers know and appreciate this.

“In line with our values, anyone acting disrespectfully towards our team members will be asked to leave the store. Thank you for understanding and support.”

The message has been received with mixed reactions from the public. Some loved it and shared their respect towards the grocer for standing up for its staff members, while others said it’s “woke” and uncalled for.

“Saw this sign for the first time at the entrance to a Woolworths store this morning. I trust it works BOTH ways. I am high on treating people with respect at all times, but IMO this sign has a WOKE smell to it,” Paula Breytenbach posted.

“Customers can be damn bullies taking out their frustration on staff members and most employers support the abuse their staff members get from consumers. Woolworths is brave enough,” posted Only_Botake.

Other social media users found it sad that that level of abuse is acceptable at some retailers and praised Woolworths for doing it.
