PRINCESS ANNE IN CAPE TOWN
Britain’s Princess Anne visited the South African Riding for the Disabled Association on Tuesday.
This the Princess Royal’s first solo trip after her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence’s injury to his hand.
The Princess is in Cape Town on a two-day visit.
At the South African Riding for the Disabled Association, Princess Anne spent time meeting young riders and discussing their challenges with her.
She also watched a riding lesson and presented rosettes to some of the children.
GB News reports that during her visit, 11-year-old Lashwil asked the Princess Royal about her own ponies.
“How many ponies do you have?” the young rider inquired after receiving his prize.
Princess Anne responded with characteristic candour, smiling as she admitted: “More than I should have,” adding that there was “one I do ride”.
The Princess Royal’s love for horse riding runs deep. In 1976 she became the first British royal to participate at the Olympic Games. She participated in a three-day event held during the Montreal Games.
This wasn’t the first time that Princess Anne visited the association. She first visited the South African Riding for the Disabled Association in 1994 when she toured their facilities.
